How cute fonts work

A cute font here isn't a font file you install. Each style swaps the letters you type for other Unicode characters that look like them. 𝒸𝓊𝓉ℯ comes from the script alphabet Unicode keeps for maths, ⓒⓤⓣⓔ from the circled letters made for labels, and ᶜᵘᵗᵉ from the small raised letters linguists use.

Because they're characters and not formatting, the cute letters stay the same wherever you paste them: a bio, a username, a comment, a note on your phone. Apps that let you change the font, like Word or Canva, are better served by a real font, but most social apps don't give you that choice.

Pretty fonts, preppy fonts and kawaii text

Pretty fonts lean elegant: flowing cursive, Old English letters and lookalike alphabets with curls and hooks. Preppy fonts pair cursive or small caps with pink bows 🎀, hearts 🩷, stars ⭐ and smiley faces, the look popular on preppy TikTok and in Roblox games like Adopt Me. Kawaii means cute in Japanese, and kawaii text faces like ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ and (。♥‿♥。) are built from symbols the same way.

Mix and match: copy a cute font, then use the text decorator to put a border of hearts or sparkles around it.

Cute letters for names and bios

Cute letters work best in short bursts: a name, a heading in a bio, one word in a caption. A whole paragraph of bubble letters is hard to read, and screen readers either skip these characters or read them out one by one, so keep the important part of a post in plain text.

On Instagram and TikTok the fonts work in your display name and bio but not in your @username, which only allows plain letters, numbers, dots and underscores. Discord works the same way: cute fonts in your display name and messages, plain text in the username.

Why a cute font might show as boxes

If a phone's system fonts don't include a character, it shows an empty box or a question mark instead. Bold, italic, cursive and bubble letters have been supported everywhere for years. The rarer lookalike alphabets and some newer emoji, like the pink heart 🩷 added in 2022, can still turn into boxes on older Android phones and Windows PCs. Paste a style into a draft first and check it on the device that matters.

FAQ

How do I copy and paste cute fonts?

Type your text in the box at the top, find a cute font you like and tap it. It's copied straight away, so you can paste it into a bio, caption or message.

Are these real fonts?

No. They're Unicode characters that look like styled letters, which is why they keep their look when you paste them into apps that don't let you choose a font.

Can I use cute fonts on Instagram, TikTok and Discord?

Yes, in your display name, bio, captions, comments and messages. Usernames are the exception: they only accept plain letters, numbers and a few symbols.

What are preppy fonts?

Preppy fonts are cute fonts decorated with preppy emoji such as bows 🎀, pink hearts 🩷, stars ⭐ and smiley faces. The preppy fonts group above has them ready to copy.

Why do some cute letters show up as boxes?

The device you're pasting on has no font with that character. Bold, cursive and bubble letters show almost everywhere. If a rarer style turns into boxes, pick a different one.

How do I keep my favorite fonts?

Tap the heart next to a style. Your favorites appear at the top of every page on this site, saved in your browser, until you tap the heart again or clear your browser data.

Is the text I type sent anywhere?

No. The fonts are made in your browser as you type, and nothing you write is sent to a server or saved.
